PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Manages the inventory performance and customer service objectives for packaging supplies. This position is charged with eliminating shortages, achieving service level and inventory on hand goals to support all areas utilizing packaging supplies. Develops operational schedules to meet customer service objectives and support sales growth plans at the lowest overall inventory costs. Develop, test and execute models for scheduling operations. Lead and/or assist process improvement initiatives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Update and revise plans for changes in leadtimes, order quantities, service level and sourcing locations.
  • Notify Procurement/Production/Packaging about major inventory policies.
  • Analyze and adjust stocking policies to ensure service and inventory goals are met.
  • Form teams to identify causes and possible solutions to the overstock.
  • Develop and lead the PDSA process on overstocks.
  • Simulate forecast revisions, determine best forecast and revise into a final forecast.
  • Develop forecast vs. actual tracking reports and review results with impacted groups.
  • Manually adjust forecasts based upon exchange of information with Production/Marketing/Packaging Engineering
  • Work with management and suppliers to develop a supply chain business model.
  • Evaluate deployment of packaging supply inventory to subsidiaries and adjust/transfer material accordingly.
  • Analyze overstocks and work with Procurement/Distribution/Packaging Engineering/ Production to reduce it.
  • Assist SAP users with setting inventory parameters based upon company and site goals.
  • Develop/map business processes within SAP for current processes.
  • Support a common systems approach for SAP Next.
  • Master Data Maintenance and Ownership for packaging supplies.
  • Able to audit, review and trouble shoot Master Data changes as identified in the PPPO, GCD, and SMS data bases.
  • Develop queries and reports to actively identify errors in Master Data tables.
  • Calculate specific safety stock levels, test and implement strategies for high demand and critical packaging supplies to ensure 100% service level.
  • Develop SAP/ Access data base reports that measure performance and to help identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Create operational schedules based upon throughput and service that meet local and company goals and objectives.
  • Identify scheduling constraints and test/implement strategies to reduce those constraints. (Whse space constraint would be an example)
  • Expedite materials to eliminate operational disruptions.
  • Inventory reconciliation for local and 3rd party sites.
  • Work closely with Packaging/Production/Procurement/ Pkg Engineering /Distribution to ensure packaging supply availability and Product Transfer activities.
  • Create working SAP documents that address ordering, selection, transfer and shipping of packaging supplies
  • Miscellaneous duties and tasks as assigned.
  • Exemplary attendance and adherence to schedules.
Must develop excellent understanding of complex processes from beginning to end and all steps in detail in order to perform trouble shooting and process improvement effectively.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Economics, Supply Chain Management or related field or 4-6years equivalent inventory control/scheduling experience, Certification from APICs or IBF a plus

Experience:
4-6 years’ experience in moving material through the product delivery cycle, proficient with a PC, 4-6 years’ experience in supply chain, forecasting or planning/scheduling

Essential and Critical Skills:

Good judgment, self-motivation and analytical skills are imperative
PC literate, working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, strong mathematical background, knowledge of the metric system and conversion of those units of measure, ISO standards (in relation to preparing documents), basic scheduling techniques and material requirements planning knowledge. Keyboarding, mathematical, organizational, spreadsheet, word processing, database management, problem solving, communication, attention to detail, teamwork, training, and leadership.
